Mike has been in the meat processing industry for more than 40 years. He began his career at his parents' meat processing plant in Swiss, Missouri. Mike and his wife, Lynette, ventured out on their own in June 2011. They opened the doors to their own business on September 1, 2011. The Hermann Wurst Haus is located in historic, downtown Hermann, Missouri. Mike has free rein at the Hermann Wurst Haus where he can showcase his expertise and creative bratwurst and sausage recipes.Over the course of Mike's career, he has won more than 500 national, state and regional awards; including 14 best of show honors and 10 international awards at the German Butcher's Assn. in Frankfurt, Germany. He has served as president of the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) and past treasurer. He is a past president of the Missouri Association of Meat Processors (MAMP). Mike is also a three-time hall of famer; inducted into the Hermann Wurstfest Hall of Fame in 1997 and in 2012 he was inducted into the MAMP Hall of Fame.

Favorite Bratwurst: Wurst Haus Original Bratwurst Lynette has worked beside her husband, Mike, for more than 20 years. She is the co-owner and retail manager at the Hermann Wurst Haus where she is responsible for running the store and the deli, ordering merchandise and thrives in customer service. On her days off Lynette enjoys reading a good book, shopping and spending time with her grandkids.

Guided Tour, Tasting and Meal
Hermann Wurst Haus welcomes groups for lunch, dinner, facility tours and personalized bratwurst and sausage sampling. A group menu is available. To schedule your visit to the Hermann Wurst Haus call 573-486-2266. Motorcoach-friendly! VIP parking available. Guided tours and personalized tasting are available for groups of 15 or more; advanced reservations, allow approximately one hour. Group purchases will be loaded on the motorcoaches for you. Coolers are recommended. Group menu includes lunch, light lunch, dinner or box lunch. Group menu selections must be made one month in advance and a final count is due seven business days prior to the function. Billing will be made from that number. A boxed lunch option is available and is a perfect meal for groups heading back home on Amtrak in the afternoon or for their motorcoach ride home. Wurst Making 101 Class
Learn, hands-on, the German tradition of sausage making. Join three-time hall of fame Wurstmeister Mike Sloan for this VIP event that's both informative and entertaining. Mike will show you the ropes of sausage making and cover topics such as, mixing and grinding techniques, ingredients, types of casings, safe handling, smoking and cooking times and much more. Many of you only make sausage once or twice a year and if it did not turn out right, it's months before you get to try it again and then you should only change one thing at a time or you don't know what you changed that you now like. This class will cut your mistakes by years, using Wurstmeister Mike’s everyday sausage making experience. The class is by reservation only, will begin at 10 am and 2 pm and will last approximately 2 - 2½ hours. Tickets are $79 per person and include a wurst meal, a wurst, wine and beer tasting, 2 free drink tickets, 2-3 pounds of sausage (that you made) and a Wurst Haus goody bag.
